Black History Month Wednesday Afternoon Film Screenings "I Am Not Your Negro"

The NRC will be showing a series of films selected by the community on Wednesday afternoons at 2:30pm honoring Black History during the month of February. All are welcome.

2/4 "The Long Walk Home": Two women, black and white, in 1955 Montgomery Alabama, must decide what they are going to do in response to the famous bus boycott led by Martin Luther King.

2/11 "I Am Not Your Negro": Narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson, the film explores the history of racism in the United States through Baldwin's recollections of civil rights movement leaders such as Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., as well as his personal observations of American history.

2/18" Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975": With contemporary audio interviews from leading African American artists, activists, musicians and scholars, The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 looks at the people, society, culture, and style that fueled an era of convulsive change.
