Immediate Food Support at NRC

The Northampton Recovery Center and Northampton Survival Center are working together to make food support easier to access for people pursuing or exploring recovery.

Hunger and inconsistent access to nutritious food can affect physical health, emotional well-being, and recovery. Asking for help with food is a reasonable response to a basic need.

Need is need.
At the NRC, you do not have to prove, explain, or justify an immediate need for food.

The NRC has easy-access food bags containing nutritious, shelf-stable foods that require little or no cooking provided by the Survival Center and supported by a grant from the City of Northampton.

If you need food, simply speak with any NRC staff member.

  • No formal eligibility screening is required at NRC.

  • You do not have to accept a referral or another service.

  • Receiving a food bag does not commit you to anything else.

Would Ongoing Grocery Support Help?

The Northampton Survival Center may also be able to help you receive free groceries on an ongoing basis. The Survival Center operates a choice pantry, so you can select foods that work for you and your household.

If you would like support making that connection, an NRC Recovery Coach, Peer Specialist, or staff member can explain what the Survival Center offers, review grocery options, assist with a phone call or online application, and follow up if that would be helpful.

NO PRE-REGISTRATION is required to visit and get food at the Survival Center.

The goal is connection, not compliance. You remain in control of what happens next.

Pantry Fresh Community Meals

On the last Wednesday of each month, NRC community members are invited to prepare and enjoy a Pantry Fresh meal together.

The Northampton Survival Center selects a featured recipe and provides the ingredients. Community members may participate as much—or as little—as they feel comfortable. No cooking experience is necessary.

  • Create connection and reduce isolation.

  • Discover affordable and nutritious foods.

  • Build cooking skills and confidence.
